Ramsgate Tunnels 2024 Masterplan
Ramsgate Tunnels
The Ramsgate Tunnels date from 1862 and run two and a half miles long under the seaside town of Ramsgate. Subsequent development has added extensions and in the second world war the tunnels played a major role in protecting the people of the town.
Partially reopened in 2014 HKD has been asked to develop a masterplan which will place the tunnels on a more commercial/sustainable footing by increasing visitor numbers, providing training learning and outreach opportunities.
The proposed scheme which opens 100 meters of the tunnel is currently seeking funding.
